What is Gerber Files?
Gerber Format
Gerber files are the standard open format describing each layer of a PCB — copper, solder mask, silkscreen, and drill data — that fabrication houses use to manufacture the board.
A Gerber package (increasingly the newer IPC-2581 format) is the deliverable that turns a PCB design into a physical board. Complete, correct fabrication data is essential for a smooth first-pass build.
